Outreach Aftercare
A rooted sense of belonging and community
Our Outreach service, “Bethany” is situated on an adjacent street and is offered to all young people moving on from the Residential service. Direct referrals are also accepted. The outreach service was borne out of the residential service in recognition of the ongoing support that young women need to navigate their young and maturing adulthood. This is a well-established and unique feature of our service that offers the opportunity for long term connection with a rooted sense of belonging and community. The door remains open for those who want and need the continued support of Wellsprings where mature dependency is possible. Bethany offers support to young people as they move out into the community.
The outreach team provide support for young people in a warm homely environment where young people can have a nourishing meal, social contact and support based on their needs. The service provides a quiet space for study with computer and internet access for young women who may need access to IT or additional support in education or employment. The outreach staff offer form-filling and literacy support as well as housing applications, advocacy and support attending and maintaining education. Each young person is assigned a keyworker and with the support of the keyworker a bespoke aftercare plan is created through a person-centred planning approach where the young women identify areas of support and need. Additional areas of support include tenancy support and sustainment, personal care and hygiene, cooking and support attending mental health and health appointments.
The outreach building boasts warm and comfortable therapy and meeting rooms, movie and chill out spaces and a sensory room to aid relaxation and emotional regulation.
